On November 1, Makeblock announced that the Kickstarter campaign for their first hybrid laser and blade cutter xTool M1 received full funding within 15 minutes, and the brand raised $1 million in the first five days. The 5W laser power model starts at US$699 (recommended retail price is US$1,299), and the 10W model starts at US$799 (recommended retail price is US$1,499), and can add a spin for US$99 (recommended retail price of US$129) Accessory to unlock 360° engraving of cylindrical objects.

"Makeblock started its humble beginnings after launching our first project on Kickstarter eight years ago," said Jasen Wang, founder and CEO of Makeblock. "Today, we would like to thank once again the amazing community of supporters for their support and help us bring xTool M1 to life and enable individuals to enjoy the fun of creating at home."

In terms of the next steps of the event, Makeblock is expected to obtain FDA/FCC/CE-LVD/EMC certification by March 2022, which is necessary for the delivery of products to the United States, the European Union and most parts of the world. The brand is also establishing an xTool community for all users to learn, create and share. It will provide multiple project cases and detailed instructions, including digital design files, step-by-step instructions, material lists and parameter settings, and millions of digital design files for users to download. Campaign extension goals will be announced soon.

"Our goal is to create a powerful tool for everyone; a possibility to bring users more material choices and unleash their creativity," Wang continued. "Thanks to the Kickstarter community, we can bring hybrid laser and blade power to the public at an affordable price."
